Best Song Ever

Hi everyone!
This post will be a little different than other posts on this blog. A few days ago, I stumbled upon something that really caught my attention and I decided to just do it! It was from the 1D site, telling all bloggers to write about their 'best song ever' because of their new single (coming out on July 20th). They will post the best entries on their site :)
I have a blog, I love writing AND I have a song that takes me down memory lane, so why not?!

Here is what I sent in:
My best song ever is 'No One' by Alicia Keys. When I was twelve, I heard this song for the first time whilst in class. We were practicing for our school musical and needed to get our voices warmed up for all the songs we were going to be rehearsing that day. My teacher told us she had a 'challenging song' but our class (consisting of 15 boys and 10 girls) took it on. After singing it a few times, it actually sounded good! (And we had fun singing it) We used this song every time to warm up and we even sang it at our last performance. It became 'our' song.
This is my best song EVER, because in this year the whole group became one, and all small cliques were gone. There was no more bullying each other, and everybody accepted each other. This song reminds me of all the fun we had in that year, such as field trips or watching movies at someone's house. At the end of the year our teacher hosted a BBQ, and even though we didn't have school anymore and summer had already started, we sang that song all night! It also reminds me of some of the not so fun things we had to deal with that year, e.g. a mother of a friend of mine had to go to jail because she was involved in a crime. This really brought us together, and we supported her and helped her with everything she needed.

It brings me back to a year filled with laughter, joy, friendship and being able to relax when school was stressful.

Let me know in the comments below what your 'best song ever' is!

London | Home Away From Home

After going on a school trip to London (and the first time being there) I fell in love with the city. So when my parents asked me where I would want to go, my answer was simple... My brother had never been there, so tickets were booked! And last Thursday was thé day! We woke up at 6 AM, and went to the airport. We landed at Heathrow Airport, picking up our tickets for the trains right after landing. (Just hand-luggage because it was only a four day trip). This turned out to be quite the task, we were being send everywhere and nobody was able to help us :( Eventually, we got the tickets and took the train to our hotel. We were staying at Lancaster Gate hotel, which is in between two underground stations and 100 meters away from Hyde park.

On the first day we saw the Crown Jewels at London Tower and paid a visit to the St. Pauls Cathedral (we went back to go inside on the third day since it was already closed on the first day)

We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, because we were all worn out from the flight.

On the second day, a ride on the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey Church (which is DEFINITELY worth looking inside if you can!!!) and Buckingham Palace were planned. (It's all in one line, so we were on our feet all day). When we arrived at Buckingham Palace there was a lot of press and police (because the Duke had checked in at the hospital), but it was really quite besides them. (Last year was a few weeks before the Jubilee concert, so it was way to crowded to see anything). As for dinner, my very first, very special and very delicious, NANDO'S.

On the third day, a morning walk in Hyde Park and shopping!!! After strolling trough Hyde Park, we went back to St. Pauls before taking the train to Tottenham Courd Road station to start the shopping activity. And the activity it was, me and my mum did a non-stop trip for five hours with the occasional fittings! With soar feet and close to empty wallets, dinner at Covent Garden was a good way to end the day. (Clothing hauls should be up later today!)

On our last day ( :'( ) we went to Madame Tussaud's. It is really amazing to see all these figures up close and be able to see little details (without being categorized as creepy). We had lunch in a local pub, picked up our luggage at the hotel and went to the airport. After traveling most of the day, I was really happy to be home again, but sad that I had to leave London.

I posted some pictures from the trip below! Enjoy!!

One Direction concert

After trying to get tickets back in November, trying again a day before the concert and wanting to go out of the country to see them, I had to give up on my dream to see the guys of One Direction in the flesh. A day before the concert, new tickets were being sold, and I saw my change to try again. Without succes. Via Twitter and Instagram I found out that Niall and Harry already were in The Netherlands. I wanted to go and look for them, but after crying over everything for two hours, my mum wouldn't let me go.

So the next day, also the day of the concert AND my brother' birthday, I didn't want to get out of bed and start studying again for my finals. I dragged myself out and started on school. A normal day, doing some shopping for my brother' party and buying dinner for the night. My parents were going to be eating rice, and I was going to be munching on a salad with chicken en pasta (Side note: I hate rice, and with my braces, it's a struggle to eat). We even had a little chat with the neighbour.
Once returned inside, I checked twitter and my mum checked her emails.
Now, this is where it get's exciting!
She had entered the waitinglist that same morning, because there was talk about more tickets coming that day. She went on the website, and was able to buy ONE ticket. I couldn't sit still anymore, and even as I'm typing this, my hands get clammy and I'm shaking a little. So while I was walking around the house, my mum paid for the ticket and told me 'I got it. It's yours. You're going to see them.'

My mind went blank. I, the person that has tried so many times to get tickets and cried because she wasn't able to go, had a ticket. Just one, so I was not allowed to call up my friend and yell that we were going, but I was going.

An hour after we had purchased the ticket, I was in the Ziggo Dome Arena waiting for the show to start. It was total madness before, because the had asked us to wear orange because of the new king, and I had to look for something orange that would still look a little normal. I ended up wearing my brother his old soccer shirt, which is four sizes to big. But hey! I had orange on and I was going to see them.

And to say it was amazing... Huge understatement. It was everything I expected and more. I did miss my best friend next to me to fangirl with, but the fact that I didn't know anybody made me feel free. I screamed and lost my voice, and left a few tears roll as the show progressed.

I can easily say it was the best night I've had so far, and I will never forget all the things that happened that night. Like the fan-actions that were held during 'Change my mind' and 'Little things'. Or the wardrobe change from casual to orange suits with matching jerseys, all orange! Or the moments when the guys got a little emotional seeing/hearing the crowd (I can go on forever...).

So here are some pictures :)
