Surroundings | After storm

In the beginning of this month, there was a big storm in The Netherlands. Trees fell over, cars were smashed, houses had lost their roofs, and the rain did not stop pouring.

There were some pretty shocking scenes, almost unreal, so I headed out a couple of days after the storm to see what the storm had done in my area.

The tree in the last two pictures was over 100 years old, and was pulled out of the ground by the wind. The pavement close to the tree had to be removed and resubmitted after the tree was taken away by the fire department.

I'm sorry there isn't a Fashion or Beauty post today, I didn't have time to write this week. I was helping behind the scenes of a music video :) I will put some behind the scenes pictures up on Wednesday!

A Gap Year | The Waiting Game

It's been a while since I updated you about my gap year... The reason is simple: not much has happened.

I have been learning. To be patient, the differences between what my life could have been and what it is now. Lastly, I have been helping out people from time to time.

Collections | Nailpolish

Happy Friday!!!
This week I want to kick of a beauty series, 'Collections'. In this series I will show you some of my collections (why the name you wonder ;) ) that involve beauty products or fashion accessories. Starting with the first collection today. Hope you all enjoy the series, and if you have any requests for a 'collection' post, let me know!

When I was shooting for today, I thought it would be fun to count my nail polishes... It turned out to be a bigger task than I had hoped: I have over 40 different bottles!! Shooting all of them was asking time that I didn't have, so below are the ones that I use on a regular basis :)

All swatches show the coverage of one layer.

Without further ado, here is #1: Nailpolish

(l.t.r.) Hema #36 | W.I.C by HerĂ´me Honolulu | Hema #10 | Maybelline #651 Cool Blue | Essie #93 Mezmerised

I like blue nail polishes, because they go with a lot of different outfits. I personally like to wear the darker shades in Fall and Winter, and the lighter colours in summer.

(l.t.r.) W.I.C. Dakar | Hema #828 | W.I.C. Rabat | Sephora 'Let's Dance'

Purple is my favourite colour, so every change I get I paint my nails with one of these. My all time favourite is the Sephora polish, because it was my first purchase when I was in Paris, France and painted my nails with it right after I bought it :)

Hema #12 | Rimmel 'Bare Necessities' | Hema #13 | W.I.C. Venice

I am a big fan of Nude polish. When my nails are short, have broken or are cracking, I put these on. If my nails are short, painting them a bright colour only attracts attention, which is something I want to avoid when it happens!
As you can see, the Rimmel Nude has the best cover after applying one layer.

W.I.C. Nairobi | Essence Grey

When I am wearing a grey polish, I mostly wear the W.I.C. nailpolish. My mom and I are calling it 'Elephant', because when you apply two layers, it has the same colour (which makes sense as it's called Nairobi, Kenya. With a lot of elephants...) The other grey is a darker grey, it's a more formal colour to me.

What are your favourite colours?

1 Top, 10 Outfits

Hii everyone!!!
A few months ago I posted an outfit from when I went out to dinner with my family. I got a great response, and got inspired for this post! I used the same top, and put together 10 outfits for a few different occasions. With each oufit, I will explain where and why I would wear it. Enjoy!!

I am wearing
H&M Jeans | Primark Fluffy socks
I would wear this outfit for casual. I would wear this when I don't have anything planned, and I am doing things around the house. I would also wear this when I go to friends, putting on a coat or vest. In summer I wear this with my red Vans, or with a bright coloured sneaker.

HEMA leggings | Adidas Shoes | H&M Blazer | SIXX Necklace
This is a bit more formal, but not too much. Personally, I do not feel very comfortable when I have to 'dress to impress'. I would wear this to a birthday party for family or friends. I like to pair this with a low shoe, or with ankle boots. If you don't feel comfortable wearing leggings, you can also wear this with a dark washed jeans or black trousers.
H&M pants

I would wear this to school or when I am going out. I like wearing the top with a different colour than black (although this happens most of the time...) I would also wear the top inside of the pants, because the pants is a bit higher than normal. This makes your legs look a bit longer and slimmer :)

This is another casual outfit. I wear this when I go shopping. When I go shopping, I always make sure I wear multiple layers. This prevents me from having to wait in line for the dressings rooms, but still feeling comfortable for trying on clothes in the store.

H&M buisness Skirt
I would wear this to a jon interview. I would wear this for a serious job. I personally try to stay away from pairing gray with the top, but I think this combination works because the skirt is the eye catcher. This outfit is more mature, but when your dream job is on the line, looking more serious might be a good thing.
If you are not very confident about showing your legs (or slept in and forgot to shave) you can wear thights or a panty under. I would go for a skin toned panty with 60 denier, or a black one with 20 denier.

HEMA cardigan | American Appearal pants | Zign Sneakers with heels
This is more of a statement outfit. It's bold, and maybe a little risky. The risky thing about wearing this out is that people will look. Where I live, the pants are too high, and wearing it with a shirt tucked in, you are asking them to look at it. Which is exactly the reason why I bought it when I was in London :) I usually play it save with clothes, but have been trying to step out of my comfort zone. And let's not forget that the fabric is elastic, so it's pretty much a fancy pyjamapants.
I am not sure when I would wear this. Maybe a birthday or when I am going somewhere more stylish.

Jane Normann Skirt
I would also wear this to a job interview for a creative job. It's a 'formal' outfit, but it's not to adult-ish (great way to describe it!). I am only seventeen, so dressing for a serious occaison should also be fun! I would wear a longer blazer over it, falling just over the hip. Again, if you are not very confident about showing leg, you can wear this with a panty.

ONLY basic skirt. I do not know what happened to the bottom of the picture here...
I would wear this to work. We have a dress code, which is black with a bit white and it has to be professional, but still you. When it becomes colder outside, I am leaning more towards wearing leggings instead of jeans (If you are like me, there are leggings with fleece on the market).

GAP shorts | Primark leggings
I would wear this to a theme party. I would never wear this normally, but sometimes you have to be a bit crazy and pair things that don't really go together. Like a striped top and leggings with dots... You can wear this in summer without leggings or with a 20 denier panty in black.

Primark cardigan
This is totally a house outfit. A big knitted cardigan paired with comfortable leggings and top. I prefer wearing a top without sleeves when I wear a cardigan, so this top is perfect! You can wear this when you go out, but personally it's a bit too casual for me for going out.

As you can see, I am a very lazy person when it comes to clothing, and the most important thing to me is to wear what you are comfotable in wearing! Fashion to me is all about having fun, but still being yourself :)

What is your favourite outfit? Are you more of a casual kind of person or do you prefer a more classy look?

A dream come true

Every once in awhile, money runs out and you simple can't afford to buy new shoes. This happened to me last year, and I had to give up my dream of owning a pair of sneakers with a hidden heel. So I was very excited when all the Sales started, and I found a pair of my dream shoes... With a huge discount!!

Sorry this is a little smaller post, I have been paining and working on the garage with my mom to get it done and ready for her to start working there before I leave. I will try and get a new post up in the middle of next week!

Graduation | Part 2 Getting My Diploma (Better Late Then Never)

Hi everyone! A little extra for all of you... It's a post that should have been posted a long time ago, but I kept putting it off resulting in uploading this 6 months late...... So here you go and I hope you enjoy this little peek in my life!!

On the 27th of June, from 7.30PM till 10PM, there were speeches being held, some tears shed and a lot of smiles.
I started the day getting ready to go to my grandma's birthday, she turned 83 on the same day. We stayed there for the rest of the morning, and after lunch me and my dad went to town to shop for gifts for my mentors.

When I got back home, I started getting ready for graduation! Shower, blow drying my hair, straightening it, etc...

After dinner I finished getting ready and we picked up my other grandma and drove to my (now old) school.

I had to sign my diploma with my mentor class. This was the moment were 'the most important part' was happening, because signing it means it's official!

We had to wait a few minutes until we got to stand in line and walked out in front of all the parents, teachers and others that were present. There were seats reserved for all the graduates, so we got to sit in the very front :)

Every teacher was given twenty minutes to speech about their class. I had so much fun listening to all the other teachers, who were all very nervous to stand there, but also very proud off their students.

My first mentor, sadly, wasn't there yesterday :( In the middle of the year, she wasn't allowed to teach anymore and we didn't know when she was going to be returning. She was also my teacher for two subjects I would have to make exams for.
So, my second mentor held a speech, and he did a very good job! He was really nervous because he had never held a speech before. I think he did an amazing job and, with the help of my first mentor, he made a great speech for every student!

All graduates didn't get their diploma's until the end, and we also got a yearbook (which turned out great if i may say so myself!) and flowers from school!

With some friends, we took pictures and spoke to some teachers for the very last time.
I had an amazing night, but I am also really happy that this chapter is done and I can start focusing on what's next. (Read A Gap Year here).

I am so sorry it took so long for me to post this, I hadn't gotten around to it after I made the text and have been waiting for the pictures for too long (This is my own fault as I have been putting it off for WAY too long!)

Also, I had hoped to be able to put up a lot more pictures... This was the only picture that we all looked 'normal' in (especially myself, as make crazy faces on others.....)

Monthly Favourites | October

Another month has passed (two if you count September without a favourites) which means it's time for a monthly favourites :)  I have been trying a lot of new products in October, so let's get started!

Normally this product is priced around €9,-, but I picked it up at Action for €0,90
Clearasil Vitamins & Extracts Scrub. I am a big fan of Clearasil to clean my face and (hopefully) clear it from pimples. I had run out of my usual (Wash & Mask for Spots and Scars) and came across this scrub. I personally love scrubs for my body, but am more cautious when it comes to my face because my face is more sensitive. I have been using this one for a few months now, and I absolutely LOVE it. I use this in combination with my other Clearasil Wash, and it makes my skin feel really soft and it reduces pimples very effectively.
The only thing I am still not used to, is the smell. It doesn't stink, but it has a different scent than I expected. It smells like avocado, so if you like that it's a catch!

Nivea Body Lotion Douche. This is one of the new products from Nivea, it's a body lotion to be used in the shower. It saves time, because you can get dressed right after showering.
I really liked using this as it got colder outside, and my skin needed to be taken care of. I apply is after my shower gel, and leave it on my skin for one of two minutes (the time it takes to put conditioner in my hair). Wash off and my skin feels softer already! The soft feeling stays for two days, and I can feel a difference in my skin after using it for a while. My skin feels like it's better hydrated and sheds a lot less.

I got this as a gift from when I passed school (in June.....) but haven't tried it out because there was bad press going around. The news and internet claimed that people fell over in the bathroom after using this product and that the packaging didn't alert people. I got around to trying it (and found the alert on the packaging) and made sure my bathroom floor was dry and clear before stepping out. I haven't had problems with that at all!!

Garnier BB Cream. I have been wanting to try a BB cream ever since it became a 'thing'. School and work always having my time, I never really found time to try it, sadly :( So I was very excited that SALE season came along, and no school to take all my time, I ran to the store and bought it. I first went online and read over 20 reviews about BB cream and which one would be best.
I found this one and I am very happy with it :) My pimples are less red, almost gone, my under eye circles seem lighter and the overall coverage is great. When you apply it, you can see that you applied it, but 10 minutes later your skin and the cream have blended and it looks very natural.

Fleece socks. I am very cold, very easily. Whilst strolling through Primark a few weeks ago, I came across these socks. They have fleece on the inside (and happy design on the outside) and keep me extremely warm :)

Notebook. I am a person to make lists of everything. Everything? Everything! I write down what I want to do, what I think about some things, what I want to buy and so on.
I am currently working on a project with my cousin, and all that I have to do is in my notebook. Who I have to call, who I have to email.... And as I am in the middle of planning my year to Australia, my packing list and my list of gadgets are to be found in my notebook. What I still need to purchase, what I already did. My brainstorming for my blog, not to forget, is in the back of my notebook. Apart from everything else, so I am able to write down some ideas faster.
I love this one because it has an elastic band to keep it closed when it's in your bag. (Yes, I take my notebook with me. You never know when you can get inspired!! Or need to write something down)

What are your favourite things this month?

Love, Danielle
